How far can you go with a kick scooter?

Most riders can comfortably travel about 5–15 miles (8–25 km) on a kick scooter in one go. That’s the usual range for short commutes, daily exercise, or relaxed weekend rides. But here’s the thing, since a kick scooter isn’t electric, there’s no real limit to how far you can go. Your only battery is your own energy.

Of course, not every scooter is made for the same kind of adventure. Small-wheeled, folding models are great for hopping around the city or catching a train, but they’re not ideal for long-distance rides. The constant bumps and vibrations can wear you down, and even mentally it’s more tiring to keep watching for every crack or pothole.

The key is comfort and efficiency. Your deck height, handlebar position, and wheel design all affect how your body feels after several miles. A low, wide deck helps your legs switch easily, while large pneumatic tires roll smoothly and protect your joints. The more your scooter works with your body, the further you’ll want to go.

So yes, the theoretical limit is endless. How far you ride depends only on your stamina and the scooter beneath your feet.

With Boardy, distance becomes something you stop counting. Thanks to its flexible wooden frame, shock-absorbing design, and 12″ air-filled wheels, long rides feel smooth, quiet, and surprisingly easy on your body. During our own testing, we often covered 30–40 miles (50–70 km) per day without strain. Many of our customers report similar distances. Some riders even went beyond, like one customer who shared his long distance kick scooter trip adventures. He has completed two week-long tours, covering 450 km and 500 km across Germany and Sweden with his Boardy.

When the scooter feels natural and forgiving, the ride never feels like exercise — it feels like freedom.
